Please answer the following questions in no more than 300 words.
1. Why are you the best candidate for office?
Prior to assuming the Bench, I practiced law for 16 years. The bulk of my career was dedicated to representing the criminally accused, including the mentally ill, homeless, and drug addicted. I represented approximately one thousand individuals who were indigent and tried dozens of cases, including offenses ranging from misdemeanors to capital murder cases. I also worked as a civil litigator for approximately two years representing several hundred Plaintiffs. Before engaging in the practice of law, I worked in-house as a social worker in Cuyahoga County Jail and also served as a Common Pleas Court bailiff. As a judge of the Cleveland Municipal Court, I have presided over hundreds of criminal and civil cases, run an efficient courtroom, and demonstrated the fair, firm, and compassionate administration of justice.
2. If elected or re-elected, what are your top three (3) priorities and why?
If elected to retain my seat, my three priorities will be to continue to run an efficient and fair courtroom. I am the Cleveland Municipal Court's representative in the community for Expungement Awareness and I plan to continue an active role in that capacity. The Court is engaged in planning to become a paperless court and I will promote this program as well as a user-friendly website for the public to be able to access public information.
