Please answer the following questions in no more than 300 words.

1. Why are you the best candidate for office?

I will bring to this position not only my life experience, but 15 years of Court experience in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court which includes 6 years as an attorney. I demonstrate a fairness toward all with a firmness of mind and a respect for all people I encounter. I am compassionate and respectful yet able to make tough decisions. I would like to continue my commitment to public service and bring justice to all through fairness and respect for all people who come before the court.

2. If elected or re-elected, what are your top three (3) priorities and why?

The three priorities I have are drug counseling for those with alcohol/drug addiction; assistance for the mentally ill offenders; and consistency in sentencing. These issues are important to me because I believe they have a direct effect on all of us as citizens of Cleveland. Drugs are decimating our community and we must address this issue with appropriate treatment. Moreover, the mentally ill or mentally retarded offenders are coming before the courts more frequently. We as a community need to connect the offenders with the appropriate services available to them. This benefits all of us as a community. Consistency in sentencing offenders is important so that people, both victims and offenders, know what punishments will be given for offenses. Violent offenders must know that such action is not tolerated and that they will be punished appropriately under the law.
