Please answer the following questions in no more than 300 words.
1. Why are you the best candidate for office?
I believe I am the best candidate for office in my race because I have been a Judge of the Cleveland Municipal Court for ten years. During my tenure, I have disposed of over approximately 5,000 cases a year. I have served with dignity and have developed a solid reputation for my courtroom work. I have always treated all participants with respect. I currently handle the Court's Mental Health Court Docket for all of the Judges in addition to maintaining my own personal docket. This is extremely challenging and rewarding work. Prior to my service on the Cleveland Municipal Court I was a Cuyahoga County Public Defender, working in the Felony, Juvenile and Appellate Divisions.
2. If elected or re-elected, what are your top three (3) priorities and why?
My top three priorities are the Mental Health Docket, maintaining my personal docket and continuing to treat all participants with respect. The Cleveland Municipal Court is a very busy court, no other court in our area on a municipal level deals with as many cases. It takes great effort to keep a personal docket current and still be able to devote time to a special docket such as the Mental Health Docket. I am fully committed to treating individuals with the respect we all deserve because such treatment is a reflection of the Cleveland Municipal Court. The City of Cleveland needs to have the best qualified Judges on the bench, just as we need a strong government at all levels. The elected officials, Judges included, represent our city. Maintaining that strength through my work has always been my goal.
