Please answer the following questions in no more than 300 words.
1. Why are you the best candidate for office?
I feel I am the best candidate for the Council Ward 2 position because I have the experience of holding this position for the last twelve years. I believe experience counts. As a recently retired teacher, I have even more time to deal with City issues and resident concerns. I have watched our City grow from a village to a City that is now competing progressively and successfully into a very desirable place to work and live. We have faced problems of progress thoughtfully and diligently. We have added three major housing developments thereby doubling our population, while retaining areas through our comprehensive plan for industry, commerce, and recreation. With our growth, we have contended with the concerns of sanitary sewer infrastructure, traffic and increased students in our schools. I have worked on, and been a part of this growth. Yet, we have just begun. I would like to be re-elected to continue my work on projects in progress, and pursue the ideas we have on the drawing board.
2. If elected or re-elected, what are your top three (3) priorities and why?
If re-elected, I will work to complete the Quiet Zone program for train whistles. We have targeted November 14. We are also ready to begin construction on a sanitary sewer project in Ward 2.. I will continue to work with resident concerns, and keep them updated on progress. If re-elected I would like to initiate services and programs for seniors. I have worked as a member of the "Elder Friendly" task force. Through discussions, surveys and group meetings, I have become aware of some of these needs.
