Please answer the following questions in no more than 300 words.

1. Why are you the best candidate for office?

I have over 20 years experience in public service which includes 17 years as the Executive Director of Slavic Village Development(SVD). As Director, our 30 person organization with a multi-million dollar budget participated in projects as large as the Third Federal Savings Operations Center and 200 plus new homes in Mill Creek to our numerous block clubs and neighborhood planning. We have worked with over 30 block clubs on issues ranging from cultural diversity with Broadway Diversity in Progress(BDP) to neighborhood planning in working with our political leaders to extend roadways such as the Bessemer Extension and to stopping road widening such as the proposed I.77 corridor. We have been engaged in working with the City,State,County and Federal Government on numerous developments and projects as complicated as Historic and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to Home-Repair Loans and working with FEMA for assistance in dealing with abandoned housing. We have also developed a track record of working on Environmental Remediation projects that will recapture and re-use previously contaminated buildings and land. SVD was one of the first organizations to utilize “Receivership” as a tool to recapture abandoned homes and the first to have a proactive approach to land assembly for redevelopment of distress real estate. I understand the importance of parks, recreational and quality of life issues. We have engaged in a regional approach to creating new parks such as working with the Metro-Parks for two new facilities in our community including the First-Tee Golf Course. I have volunteered and participated on Boards and in numerous social/civic organizations such as University Settlement, Slavic-Village Jaycees, Cleveland Neighborhood Development Coalition and the Selective Service Administration. I am also a member of Sokol Greater Cleveland, the Society of Poles, Silver and Gold Police as well as others. As a graduate of the local schools and active member in the community I understand many of the issues and challenges we face today.
