On Cleveland's lake shore, there is a piece of land known as the
"lakefront." For years, city planners have contemplated the best use for
this piece of property. What is your vision for the development of the
lakefront property in the year 2046?
Issues to consider when writing your essay:
- What types of businesses and housing will the lakefront property
support? How do you foresee employment and job growth on this property
in the year 2046?
- How will the advancement of communications technology affect the
residential and commercial development of the lakefront property?
- Should the property be zoned for industrial use, considering
Cleveland's vast technology and manufacturing experience?
- What environmental protection will you employ to preserve the
natural beauty of the surrounding land and water? What measures will you
take to enact and implement recycling or any other type of
waste-reduction policy?
- How about entertainment? Will soaring property values force the
closure of Burke Lakefront Airport, site of spectator events such as the
Cleveland Grand Prix and Air Show? Do you envision use of the area for
other types of entertainment for the public?
